Are you saying this stuff on purpose? For real? Don't you think jails and prisons might be good places for murderers and rapists. They're not supposed to be rec-centers (although some seem to be). I would think incarceration improves the lives and hopes of some would-be victims of crime. Wouldn't you? Well, gotta run- My Attica stock is taking a tumble

we were speaking of the war on drugs. You know, 20 yr old kids gettin years in jail/prison for havin a couple joints.
Which has nothing to do with Murder and Rape. Putting a rapist in prison does bring the satisfaction of revenge to the victims. But it would be much more effective, and prevent more crime/pain, if we addressed the issues that cause and lead to crime in the first place.
Why don't we have a War on the causes of Homelessness, not the Homeless. How about a War on Hunger ? We could fight it in the schools by providing HEALTHY FOOD. Studies have shown thast kids have many fewer problems when they get to eat in the morning.
How about a War on Stupidity ? We could bomb the schools with Books and Paper and drop new teachers in the classrooms.
To equate a stoned teenager with a murderer is a great example of propaganda. But has no relativity in reality.......

Thank you, and as far as the question goes, I feel that I can choose a side with out telling others they HAVE to be on my side. If enough people are on my side and my side wins then alright good for my cause, if I can have a fair discussion and sway others opinions with out FORCING them to change their belief then even better.
I'm glad I'm not the only one to find the genetics comment unnerving, it was like reading all those books on what someone things the future will be right and its almost always a future filled with simple minded people who don't really know whats going on while the government plays them like fools. .
and as tempting as the subject of how effecient jails are and the other things that have been brought up in here are I think I'll just not comment as to stay on subject, perhaps if there is a thread for those topics I'll scope it out.

Think drugs might have anything to do with it? What do you think might be one of the leading causes of crime in this country? Republicans? Sugar? No. It's Drugs. Stop trying to sugar-coat everything (no pun intended).
And stop with the PSA's about homelessness, and hunger. How many homeless people have you adopted today Pukaman? How many children have you offered a healthy breakfast?
Are these government problems?
Seriously, have you ever offered a homeless person a job versus cash? Which one does he take?
And what is your big deal with food? And it's become the government's job to do every task for the child but teach him what he needs to know. Instead, he's told what he should eat, what clothes he should wear, that there is no God (at least in the Pledge of Allegience), and that there is no such thing as right and wrong; only "grey" areas.
Any response made to your profound comments should never be given the disservice of being called irrelevant.
And btw, if you're doing time in the big house, you didn't just smoke a couple of joints to get there.

However, Crime levels would only really be reduced if drugs were provided free, or at a heavily reduced price, to addicts who would otherwise have to resort to crime. Sorry Frankiegoestostoke - free and cheap isn't the answer - free drugs would only result in an overwhelming horde of supplicants - whether they were truly addicted, or not!! The simplest solution is also nearly impossible to achieve, these days, thanks to the Pollitically Lobotomized Correct - a little thing called "personal self-control." In short, handing out MORE temptation dos not function in the best interest of the true addict - does not a complete cure ELIMINATE all symptoms of malaise, and disease - including the original source of the disease? The "free and cheap" argument just tries to stretch the problem thinner, without any hint of resolution........ Thus is the liberal way!!! In other words - Crime in the 1st degree to your Mutha, Phuckers!!!!! ;D ;D ;D

If we legalize drugs the crime would obviously drop. Way fewer people would be arrested for having a small bag of crack of them.
