Now the truth comes out. So by "I've seen war." you meant "I've seen the effects of war.". Who hasn't? Make clear statements from now on. Misleading is the way of the leaders of the Democratic Party, so I guess I'm not surprised it is the way of its lemmings. By the way, it is spelled senseless, not sensless.  Now to understand who is more likely to restart the draft, first you need a knowledge of the history of the draft. President Franklin Roosevelt(a Democrat) signed the Selective Training and Service Act of 1940 which created the country's first peacetime draft and formally established the Selective Service System as an independent Federal agency. From 1948 until 1973, during both peacetime and periods of conflict, men were drafted to fill vacancies in the armed forces. Nixon was forced to start a lottery drawing due to the shortage of troops in Vietnam, a war started by, and carried on by JFK and LBJ(two Democrats). In 1973, under Nixon, the draft ended and the U.S. converted to an All-Volunteer military. The registration requirement was suspended in 1975 under Ford(a Republican). We wouldn't hear anything about the draft again until 1980, when, under Carter(a Democrat) resumed the registration requirement. Now, Kerry says he will double the Special Forces, and increase the military by 40,000 troops. I think we can learn from the history of political parties, the draft, and Kerry's promises who is more likely to force kids into combat. |

My Dear uncle Vinney for one who claims to have sooo much experience you sure see the world through rose colored glasses!there are people out there that are truely evil and will use any excuse to to spread their poisondoesn't matter how nice you are or how much you feel their pain. They look at Kindness as a form of weekness,which they have no respect for! To drive a deeper wedge between americans It was comrade Rangel who intro the bill and who also voted against his own bill! what up with that little game? time to rewind your propraganda tape and hit Play? besides the military doesn't want drafties but whats good for our country is the last thing on your mind!

War is wrong huh? What about genocide? Is that cool?
Many times our Army has deployed and helped put a stop to racial cleansing. 1930's and '40's Germany, Kosovo, and Iraq just to name a few. The latter two I have been a part of.
What about defending your right to say whatever you want? Your right to the four basic freedoms? Are these things worth fighting for? I'm very curious about how you feel about some of the questions I've posed

Sure Vag, I can see war in a case such as Hitler rolling across Europe. But Saddam was no threat to us. Bush went in for the oil alone. Now we are stuck there - no end in sight. The Iraqis hate us, we have lost control, mounting deaths, beheaded hostages, insuffient troops, dumb leaders - and on and on and on.
Just today, in the paper, Army troops and National Guard report WITNESSING the looting of Al Qaqaa - the troop commanders called headquarters. NO REPLY!!!
Dumb war, dumb strategy in the war, poor planning, stupid choices, stupid Commander in Chief!

Sorry dude, there were a lot of people against WW II saying a lot of the things that liberals were saying before this one. We were finding MASS GRAVES in Iraq. How can you sit there and tell us about human rights when you are unwilling to go to war with countries that violate INTERNATIONAL law? Saddam had plans for WMD's, both chemical and biological. He had Silkworm missiles that were in direct defiance of sanctions placed against him. He routinely violated the No-Fly Zone that was set up to protect the Kurds in the north and the Shiites in the south. He even tried to assasinate George Bush Sr!
These aren't good enough reasons for war? Then what are in your opinion?
