I am so sick of celebrities using their ultra-exclusive platform to promote their extremist political ideals. Take a look at Barbara Streisand's site: www.barbarastreisand.comIt's tiring and banal. I like celebrities who are real and down-to-earth and don't plaster political themes all over their work. For example, Ellen DeGeneres is a lesbian and probably a liberal (haven't researched her political past much) but I like her show. She is a funny woman and has a great personality. She drops the political BS at the door and does her job. That's what other celebrities like Moby, Streisand, other elitist class members need to do. As one author so eloquently put it..."Shut up and sing!"

I'm tired of people who listen to them and take them seriously. *shrugs*
All I have to say is Barbara may have had something to say back when she was famous...
... what were you doing on the Streisand website anyway? Trying to find a showtune to download?

Meh, I'm tired of a lot of things. This is America and thus money can buy just about anything, celebrities are rich. Thus they get more exposure, plus a lot of people idolize them and love to find out what there doing. I think your complaint is with people who care more about what celebrities have to say cause there famous not the celebrities for speaking there mind.

why arent there any "cool" hollywood personalities supporting the Republicans? Chuck Norris?? give us a break....... ;D I mean is it because conservatives traditionally are interested in the Economic sphere as opposed to more artistic means of expression.?? I mean, seriously, who would you rather have at your party... The cast of the Sopranos?? or the cast of Fox news....

How about Tom Selleck, Kurt Russell, Bruce Willis, Mel Gibson, Charlton Heston, Dennis Miller, John Travolta, Ann Margaret, James Earl Jones, Fred Thompson, Travis Tritt, Clint Black, Toby Keith, Ted Nugent. . .
Some may argue that they are not conservative, but a great many have to hide their conservative views in order to be able to work.
Most of the uninformed in Tinsletown just pick a cause, because that is the standard prerequisite to be "hip", never mind if you don't know squat about what your condemning or supporting.

Why is it that you are so against liberal "elites" ?
Is it the "liberal" or "Elite" that you hate so ?
If the "Elites", how bout the Republican Elites ?
Bush family has been in the elite catagory for at least 3 generations.
Cheney is definatly in the "Elite" group too.
Multi-millionaires and billionaires are the Elite, regardless of political parties.
Which of these billionaires is really representing the "Common Man"?
Do you really belive that a billionaire has your best interest at heart ?
Explain how please.........

If the Kerrys win their bid for the white house, they will be the richest occupants ever. Listen to his voice without looking at his ugly, lurch like face. It's freaking Thurston Howell the third!

It's not exclusively about wealth. It can also refer to intellect, or social status. In this case, particularly with those in Hollywood, it's the belief that their opinions and thoughts should be held in high regard because of who they are. It's their sense of entitlement (via their star status) that they believe affords them a monopoly on righteousness. If you disagree with them and their kooky psuedo-feel-good horse crap, you're accused of being "hateful", and "ignorant". Particularly if you are of the christian faith. Just because someone is wealthy doesn't mean they are "elites". Elitism is a frame of mind.

Do you really belive that a billionaire has your best interest at heart ? No, especially when the billionaire is George Soros.

In my opinion, the celebrities are not stating their opinions in order to impose them upon others, but rather to express themselves as more than just an actor, actress, etc. They are just like everyone else and feel the need to contribute to the community the same ways that the ordinary people do.
Now, Michael Moore is probably a different story....

They are not "ordinary" and certainly not like "everyone else". And they are not making their opinions known because they wish to be just like the rest of us. They are using their names to support an agenda, and oust a president. What makes them that much different than Michael Moore? You've got Linda Ronstadt supporting him (Moore) publicly. You've got Jessica Lange, George Clooney etc. . . . calling the president names, making hate speeches. . . Aren't they the ones who otherwise preach against the same thing?? Hate? Oh, but it's OK to hate conservatives, right? Do you remember what Clooney said about Charlton Heston? Making fun of him because he has Alzheimer's disease? Just because they have a difference of opinion. Yeah, They're just "regular guys" Just like you and me.
