Abortion IS an abomination. That is a simple fact.
Funny, I thought "simple facts" were things recognized as such by everyone. Considering that enough of America is sufficiently o.k. with abortion to keep it legal, you might want to reevaluate whether "abomination" is the correct word. I think it might be overkill if we're still trying to stay within the realm of "simple facts." I think most Americans think of abortion as some icky thing that they'd rather not think about, but recognize it as an expedient choice in the event of an unwanted pregnancy, and so want to keep it around in the event that they (or their loved ones) might need to use it one day. You can rant all you want about how if they saw the result of an abortion . . . or about how it's murder and we'll all have to answer to God, but SOME OF US don't care. I've seen pictures that purport to be of aborted fetuses, and it wouldn't stop me from having one if I needed one. Sure, they're gross, but that's about it. And since I'm an atheist . . . well, let's just say I don't spend much time worrying about what's going to happen to me after I die. The only moral implications of the choice, for me then, are those grounded here on earth. I have a degree in biology and have done experiments on mice that would raise the hairs on the back of most people's necks. I don't think that an unborn baby is worthy of better treatment than that I accord the mice, unless, of course, I want a kid.
I think the real problem pro-lifers have is that America has simply become less religious in fact. People may say that they believe in God, and they may go to church, but there is virtually no piety left. Too bad for you guys.
