In this point in our history our nation finds itself the target of terrorist. There is moral and cutural decay. We are being flooded illegals who come across our borders or donot leave when their visas run out. Religion is attacked. We are in a war, which now after we have deposed Saddam and there are no WMD it is questionalbe as to why we remain to rebuild a foriegn nation, when we need to rebuild at home. The infections of liberalism, socialism, political correctness, and multiculturalism are present in our media, academia, and government. Saying that, which five Americans from our past would you like to see running our nation to solve these problems and why? George Washighton: to bring America back to a higher moral and ethical Standard. Thomas Jefferson: to stregnthen our adherance to the Constitution and even though he was a Deist he knew the vital importance of religion in a republic. Barry Goldwater: he would approach this war in the only way one ends wars...win it or get out. Also he would be a leader who would stop the invasion of our borders by illegals. Gen. George S. Patton: same reasons as given for Goldwater. Robert E. Lee: to bring honor and dignity to our miltary and our culture. :

William Jefferson Clinton - too bright to go to war without a clue. FDR - made some tough decisions genuine leader. Eisenhower - seasoned veteran who warned of military industrial complex JFK - smart enough to act rationally Truman - the buck stops there

In no specific order I'd say FDR, Truman, Reagan, Washington, and Lincoln.

William Jefferson Clinton - too bright to go to war without a clue. FDR - made some tough decisions genuine leader. Eisenhower - seasoned veteran who warned of military industrial complex JFK - smart enough to act rationally Truman - the buck stops there WJC - Would opt rather to launch cruise missiles into Baghdad totally unprovoked. FDR - Welcomed an attack on US Sailors in Pearl Harbor as a way to bolster support for an entry into WWII. Eisenhower - Douglas MacArthur referred to him as "The best clerk I ever had", so I'm sure he would have made a great President. JFK - In his speech during the CMC stated "Any hostile move anywhere in the world against the safety and freedom of peoples to whom we are committed--including in particular the brave people of West Berlin--will be met by whatever action is needed." Talk about preemptive! Truman - Most liberals can't get passed Truman's decision to end WWII with the killing of 115,000 Japanese civilians, so I'm rather baffled by this pick. As far as my picks go, listed in no particular order, drum roll please: Washington, MacArthur, Augustus, Chou En-Lai

The more I have read about him the more I think he was a good guy, understood the issues, and made some good decisions as President. Very liberal for a republican. I also have a autographed card from him from a letter I wrote him in grade school as he was about to leave office.

That's interesting. I do respect Eisenhower in that when he died he was buried in a $60 military issue casket void all the outrageous fanfare that comprises today's protocol.
My father has an autographed and lettered first edition of Nixon's memoirs addressed to himself.
