This election proved one thing more than any other: Republicans are able to get in touch with the average joe better than the Democrats.
In order to really succeed the Dems will have to drop the hippie communist ultra-liberal crap and get back to their roots. They have to understand that most Americans are moderate in viewpoint. I think this is something both parties have forgotten, but less so for the Republicans.
Also it will be a good idea to run with a platform next time. Hearing how much somebody sucks for 9 months is only going to get me to vote for him just to spite you.

All it proved is that the average American is dumb. The Republicans have repeatedly shown that they will do anything in their power to cater to large corporations. Be it tax breaks for shipping jobs to countriew with low or no labor and environmental standards or cutting tariffs on cheap foreign steel. This administration has still 1.6 million jobs in the private sector, which is the number that really matters when we are talking about jobs as far as I am concearned. Ohio, for example, has lost 250,000 jobs since Bush took office and he still wins the state?! Give me a break! I talked to numerous republicans that said "If American votes for their check book, John Kerry will be the next president."

No, Americans have grown up. The Democrats are still stuck in the 60s mindset and the average American is tired of having their tax dollars going to a bunch of free-loaders, which is the constituency that the Democrats cater to.
