As a soldier I can assure you joe that since Bush has been in office my benefits have only increased. 'Nuff said Ahh, yes, but you are one of the lucky ones that has not been killed. I agree with our president on most issues, I am still undecided about this Iraq war though. Seems immoral to kill so many innocent people that haven't done anything to the U.S. I heard something 100,000 Iraqi civilians are dead because of this war. |

Check your facts, the very great majority of Soldiers do survive Wars. The very great majority.
Sometimes you feel lucky you survived. But to say he was one of the lucky ones implies that most died few lived. That is wrong. Most live, and as we progress in our capabilities fewer die.
As to the second part. I heard it was one million one hundred thousand. I also heard that in order to save bullets they lined them up in rows and shot them with one rifle and one bullet. In some cases they grouped them and dropped one bomb. I mean I heard this. So I believe it. You believe what you read or heard right?
I mean why bother checking things out, it's easier to accept what you hear.

I can't believe what I read or hear so I guess I should fly to Iraq and count the bodies myself? How do you get your facts? Through osmosis? I know most soldier live through wars. But I bet the ones that died fighting a "War on Terror" in a country that had nothing to do with any major terrorist attack wouldn't be excited about their benefits increasing. |

How did you get the bad info in the first place and why did you believe it?
Common sense would lead you to ask some basic questions. such as Who are the casualties?
What constitutes an innocent victim? Who killed those innocent victims. (Are you aware of how man Iraqi have been killed by terrorist who are not even Iraqi?)
As to flying. Sure why not. You brought it up. So go. Learn something from the people that are there. There are plenty of web Sites. I stay in touch with my fellow Marines by use of those web sites. The facts are out there if you want to find them.
This statement by you was absurd and reflected a conclusion and a judgment on both the United States and our Troops.
How do you know all those people (If indeed those numbers were true) were Iraqi Civilians. How do you know they did nothing to the US?
That is the kind of talk and accusations thrown against me and my fellow Nam vets when we returned thanks in part to trash like John Kerry and others.
I am not going to allow that to happen to these vets. I did learn from my generation and from the War. No more bitter after taste just because someone decides to make un justified and un justifiable statements.

There has been and I for one am sick and tired of presenting the facts on it, more than enough proof that Saddam did have ties to the terrorist and provided financial aid and other comforts including weapons. If you don't want to believe it then frankly I don't give a dam. It has been shown, and proved. He helped on a great many attacks. 911 we are not sure of. Still he helped on others especially in Israel. (Perhaps they don't count to you) Those were major attacks. I wager that anyone who is wounded in one of those attacks would venture the opinion they were major. You might dis agree. What is your criteria for Major? X amount of dead and wounded + buildings brought down or vessels sunk/ damaged?
One last thing. You don't know what those who died were thinking before or when it happened. You're trying to bet on what they would or would not have been interested in is your own un informed and naive opinion. It reflects the typical Liberal mindset. Liberals always know what others are feeling and thinking and wanting. Liberals are always wrong.
