What do you think of people who announce their plans to marry someone while they are still legally married to someone else? I seem to hear about this kind of thing with more and more frequency. In some cases, the people have not even become legally or physically separated from their current spouse! I have heard about this practice, but don't have much personal experience with it. People in my circles would wait until divorce papers were in hand before making any kind of public announcement about plans to remarry, just out of respect for the institution and general good taste.
What do you think?

There's also the question of legality, this very well may be the few things we agree on MO. I know I know, i'm as surprised as you.

In the age of "no fault divorce" people do this kind of crap. Mostly people who don't have a pot to pee in, or they would face repercussions in divorce court. It can actually get you into trouble if you have property issues.
One can then ask: Do they do this because they don't have a pot to pee in, or do they not have a pot to pee in because they don't have much character? Which is the chicken and which is the egg? I have a feeling it's the later.

What do you think? I think it's a real low-class thing to do; and sounds like there is some spite involved there as well. I don't know about the legality issue that Peanut brought up, but it's certainly of poor taste at the very least.

I just meant that you can't be married to two people at once. You would like to think that this issue would stop others from "jumping the gun" so to speak.

Oh, I thought she was talking about just making the announcement of marriage while married.

I'm not talking about polygamy. I'm talking about the freaks that go from their husband/ wife right to the next serial partner, with no respectable amount of courtship and living alone time. It's gross!

I wasnt speaking of polygamy either; I was just saying, regardless of people's moral code, you would think the legal issue at hand would be enough (or you HOPE it would be enough) for someone to, at the very least, get divorced from their (ex)partner before they send out the wedding invitations to their next wedding.
But then again, no one really thinks about the commitment of marriage anymore.
