Mo, I think you hit the nail on the head.
The fitting passage from Proverbs is a more eloquent version of exactly what I have been telling my aforementioned friends: These people are just on a conveluted power trip and are making fools of themselves.
Hmm, maybe I should repost part of these last few posts in the Rude People, Buttholes and Lunatics area since I kinda got us off on a tangent? I think this could warrent more discussion; what do you think?

I could rant on about it. I have alot of thoughts about it. One could be tempted to say that it is just the haves and the have-nots, but it is much deeper than that.

This feminism thread is really prima facie, but would not be complete without bringing up the "Clintonization" and "feminization" of men. WHERE are all the modern day John Waynes? Maybe more women are taking on male characteristics because somebody has to!
Why do guys want women to act like ladies when so few of them know how to address us as such? It is true in cyber space and the real world. Some of you gentlemen (loose term) try to talk to ladies as if we were all gum-snapping feminist taratulas, anyway. When you get pulled up on it and get a physical or proverbial slap in the face you want to bite your lower lip, and chalk it up to her being an up-tight b***h, in true Clinton style.
Are the feminists making men weak? I have met some of you Clintonized men out there that I would lose all respect for and have for breakfast. I would chew you up, spit you out and throw you into the scrap heap with the rest of the men I've destroyed!
This 5'1, very feminine, lactating soccer Mom is twice the man some of you will ever be!

Holy HELL, can people be more stupid!? "Feminists want to be men?!" what kind of drug induced statement is that?!?! I thought stupid and sexist comments were gonna be erased. It's so funny seeing guys that think they know everything, try to explain the divine secrets of the universe. I GUARANTEE you guys, if you talk like this to a woman, it'll be your hand pleasing you, not your lady. Granted, i agree that some women go to far and are just plain insulting and that political correctness is way outta hand when it comes to feminism (what's next, changing mailman to person person?) But all feminism is about is equality, if a job can be offered to a woman and a man, gender should not be a deciding role, and yet we all know it is. Chivalry is two ways, i would give up my seat to an elderly man as quickly as i would to a pregnant mom-to-be. But feminism has lil to do with rights for women, then it does for equality of rights for all genders.

. . . feminism has lil to do with rights for women, then it does for equality of rights for all genders. This is true of the original idea of Feminism and I think that this is great but . . . No, I don't think women want to be men, far from it; in fact, feminism has spun off a "fad" of hatred for men. This is just exactly what women have fought against for years: chauvinism, but now it's female chavinism. This is the point. --FD

Clearly those women were stupid, haha. They went too damn far, but what do we do to stupid people? We laugh at them as we would friends that trip over their feet, but then we help them, those women, need help, plain and simple- their SICK. See, great thing about being gay, I DONT HAVE TO DEAL WITH THAT!!! HAHAHA, HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Wow, I sure did get a laugh out of that. I'm a feminist, and radical at that. Would you like to see my picture? www12.brinkster.com/feralsite/skeptikalneon.jpg I don't look like a man, nor would I wish too, I'm not fond of sweat or having a funny genital that flops around. I don't hate men, I have great guys as best friends, nor am I a lesbian. I do find it very amusing the evident desperation in quotes like "feminist tarantula", which attempt to create rumors about feminism. It's always nice to know you've made misogynist men frightened enough that they resort to third grade name calling. I also found it pretty amusing that some men are dumb enough to buy into stereotypes, and don't have enough faith in themselves to be willing to compete with women on all levels, like the workplace. Striving to keep another group down symbolizes fear, we learn that in Psychology 101, and seeing your reaction to feminism gave me a good feeling of power. The patriarchal ideal that a feminist can't be feminine, or would actually care what a man thinks was pretty funny, I'll have to show my women's studies teacher. Thank you, boys!

Great! If you're a true feminist, I'm right there with you.
I'm all for equal rights, equal pay and equal opportunity. That's true feminism.
As for the title, (courtesy of Fred from fredoneverything.net) there is a difference between desperation and satire. Not all feminists (even the radicals) are this way. Surely as a feminist you see that this "male bashing" group that has arisen is giving the rest a bad rap.
That's what this discussion is about. As I have said before, chauvinism, whether it be male or female, is an ugly thing.
By the way, there is also a big difference between being frightened and being fed up. As a feminist and someone who has taken PSY 101, I'm sure that you realize that.
Certainly there are problems with stereotypes, I don't subscribe to them and I realize that a feminist can be feminine. It's everyone's job to fight stereotypes and, again, that's exactly what this discussion is all about.

P.S. Feel free to share this post with your teacher as well.

I am in agreement with you about the tiresome male bashing. It is pointless, and accomplishes nothing..and makes people less willing to help improve the world because they don't want to be saddled with that label. I do dread seeing militants out there wanting to flip the power tables and trying to make the world even more unequal. So I agree with you on that. As a feminist, what I want is to not face sexual comments at work, to be able to apply and get a job that I am qualified for (no double standard - ick) and to be able to expect not to be raped if I walk alone. Not too much, really. Sorry for ranting earlier.

You guys....you're so funny....stop it...
Male dominated societies spend every minute since the dawn of time restricting women, demeaning their role, intelligence, ability, and rights, then 21t century Bubbas are surprised that 'some' of them don't like it.
Goes right along with: white dominated America spends almost 400 years enslaving blacks and denying them their rights under the Constitution, then in the 60s are surprised that they don't like it.
We got problems, Bubba pals, and youse guys are the source of them.
