You are forgiven! (Not the person posting the idiotic starter post, however. ) Suggest you check this out - Web WisdomBTW, I agree with everything you said, about generalizations, waffles, etc.

You're a warm man, Josh. Hope you never become homeless and run into someone like yourself...

Itwillneverwork : "- Your point about gypsies is pure racism and makes me feel alot happier about disagreeing with you now that i know your mindset."
How is it racist? It is a fact that a large number of beggars, particularly in London, are Albanian gypsies who have entered the country illegally. To point out a fact is not racist, nor is it racist to suggest that those in the country illegally should be deported.
"- Finally, your point that 'they shouldnt be begging' and should be 'prosecuted under the vagrancy act' seems to spit in the face of the values of a free society. You don't HAVE to give them money, but why deny others the opportunity to give as they see fit?"
Because begging is illegral under the terms of the Vagrancy Act, and the law should be enforced. And because the failure to enforce it impacts upon the community as a whole. Take a walk through Charring cross at night and you will feel very uncomfortable indeed. I would imagine a lone woman would feel far worse.

who was it that said a poor man shames us all. I think there is some truth to that. I find it hard to be hard when i have so much, maby it was my moms fault, it took me a long time to undrestand what she meant when she would say there but for the grace of God go i. I say GOD BLESS MY MOM FOR TEACHING ME SHAME. and allso i would like to add that i personly know and grew up with and went to school with the gipsies and they are some of the nicest and most respectfull people you need to meet.

Unless selling the big issue counts a lot of homeless people can't get jobs since the people at the interview often ask for an address to send letters to. How many people are seriously going to write to a temp one over a permanent one in a nice area? Some nice people perhaps, but not many. Secondly landlords expect cash. Thus you see the dilema.
