Hello everyone. This is my first post at this forum. I hope it is the first of many. I consider myself to be a generally conservative person, especially in the morality department. I frequently listen to Coast to Coast AM. For those of you who might not know what that is, it is a late night radio program where they talk about many subjects. Mostly though, they talk about strange things like UFO's, ghosts, near death experiences, and various other things. About four weeks ago they had a guest on by the name of David Icke. I have to say that I agreed with many of the things he had to say. Some more than others. He is a Bush basher, which I do not agree with. I would do a few things differently than President Bush, but he is far better than ANY Jack**** , except for maybe Strom Thurman. Anyway, He advocates the use of drugs for spiritual enlightenment. This REALLY rubs me the wrong way.

I have been trying to undo some of the bad turns taken in the late 60's and early 70's. I have made it my personal mission to shine a light on the things that went on then, that people are not aware of. I am 37 years old now. I grew up in rural South Dakota. I am the youngest of ten kids. A few of my older siblings could be discribed as hippie types. While growing up in the 70's and early 80's, I heard song after song on the radio about peace and love. In my hometown of White Lake it was common for people not to lock their doors. At the same time I would watch the evening news with my Dad, and learn about a world that seemed to be anything but peaceful. As I became a teenager and high school student, I formed an idea in my head that STAYED. With world wide communications, advances in agriculture, & etc., it should be possible to make the whole world like my hometown(maybe even better). The world is bigger and more diverse than I had earlier realized, but I did not let it discourage me. And I still don't.

In the 1989-1990 time period I discovered dates, names, and events that link the original American Woodstock festival with at least one of the Dead Sea Scrolls. One or two of the items, I had known about for years. It involves my hometown and I can get to that later. Anyway, Woodstock was originally to be held in Wallkill, NY on 8/15, 16 & 17/69, but the people there did not like the hippie crowd and they protested. So, Woodstock ended up being held in Bethel, NY on 8/15, 16 & 17/69. I Kings ch. 12 in the Bible tells about another wild and misguided festival held in Bethel on 8/15. Some people have pointed out that, the calendar used to schedule Woodstock was different than the calendar used to schedule the festival told about in I Kings. I take this as a sign of just how unimportant a particular calendar is to God. It is the reason for the festival, which is the important thing.(Like for bringing people together and renewing friendships) This same line of thinking has caused me to come to another conclusion about what makes a land Holy. Any land is as Holy as another, it is the actions of the people presently on a land, which determine whether it is Holy.

The Dead Sea Scroll here is called the Damascus Document(or Damascus Rule). the original author of about 100 B.C. interpreted several Bible verses in this particular scroll. One of those verses is Micah 2; 11. In my modern Catholic Bible(I do not believe in every Catholic practice), Micah 2; 11 reads, if one acting on impulse should make the futile claim: "I pour you wine and strong drink as my prophecy," then he would be the prophet of this people." Concerning this Bible verse the scroll author writes: The SERPENTS are the kings of the peoples and their wine is their ways. And the head of ASPS is chief of the kings of Greece who came to wreak vengeance upon them. But all these things the builders of the wall have not understood because a follower of the wind, one who raised storms and rained down lies, had preached to them (Mic. 2; 11), against all of whose assembly the anger of God was kindled. While David Icke, himself admits that he is not sure about his imagery of reptilian entities, this is where his ideas and mine have the most in common. Getting back to Woodstock, Joe Cocker sang, Lets Go Get Stoned, and then, With A Little Help From My Friends. Just seconds after he was finished singing it began to rain. A witness recalled that there was no rain forcasted for that day. These two songs give both a negative and then a positive message and therefore constitute a following of the wind. Joe should not be considered an anti-Christ or anything like that, but just another lost sheep. A lost sheep with a microphone and LOTS of listeners. The other wine here is the thinking that we as individuals can never change OUR selfish and sinful ways. Elitists are guilty of driving on the status quo, while many others who knew better fell in line. We all have at least a little share in the blame for state of the world today.

This situation reminds me of a saying from Jesus taken from a Gnostic Gospel, the Gospel of Thomas: If those who lead you, say to you: See the kingdom is in the sky, then the birds of heaven will precede you. If they say to you: It is in the sea, then the fish will precede you. But the kingdom is within you and it is with out you. When you know yourselves then you will be known, and you will know that you are sons of the living Father. But if you do not know yourselves, then you are in poverty, and you are poverty. In America, in the late 1960's and early 1970's there was a primarily unorganized group(s) of young people known as hippies. Some of these hippies were also known as Jesus freaks. The people in the scroll known as scoffers, roughly equate to people known as yuppies, in the late 1960's and early 1970's. Instead of encouraging the dreams of peace and harmony of the hippies, drugs and chemical dependency quelled real progress in the peace and harmony social movement. The scroll mentions this with the words, for they sought smooth things and prefered illusion. These among other lines, lead me to believe that the scroll is telling about the time we are living in. Or perhaps history repeating itself in a less near specific way.

I think this is enough for people at this forum to chew on for now. My hope is that these connections can be useful in inspiring people everywhere to be better people. In the least, I believe that these connections can be used to greatly shorten the war on terror. They would help to prove to them that there is much more to this big world than Islam. I am not a wealthy man at all. I would do more to promote these connections if I could afford it. I have no adverising at my personal website, I hate the way everything is commercialized these days. I have scanned pages of proof from books at my site, as well as mp3's of a few Woodstock tunes and 18 other songs of the late 60's and early 70's. Welcome to our congregation at RantWeb. I must say your aforementioned points are of a nature so boring that they qualify, perhaps, as a written vehicle on par with the Canticles of Solomon. But that aside, we are elated to know you have juxtaposed the Woodstock Festival with the Dead Sea Scrolls. Indeed, I myself have been at a loss, recently, for new ways to shed light on some of the lesser known Christian Sources.

Your connection sounds curiously similar to that of Bill Clinton's orgasm with Monica Lewinski as foretold by the Prophets.

The truth, my child, is that you have misconstrued holy writ to fit an interpretation of your own. You are guilty, in other words, of blasphemy.

37 ? that means you were one during the height of the sixties. 1968 I was in Alaska manning a site keeping America free. Funny how it turned out. Since I lived those times let me share the perspective of a slightly older fellow. I was home on leave during Woodstock and had I been home a day or so sooner I would have gone there with friends. Two things surprised me when I got home in the sixties, drugs and go-go joints. All bars became go-go places, guess they both represented the hedonism of the times. This was my first introduction to pot, hash, and acid. Weird stuff but once back to active duty it was there too. You say liberal drug pushers, you have to remember one key item here, liberal as you use it is a creation of the right. It is a fictional label similar to all pejorative terms in group think. We are the in crowd - they are the out crowd - they are liberal. Of course liberal can be changed depending on the group and who they need to blame in an effort to feel superior. Anyway no one then used liberal and there was no right wing network of like minded group thinkers to spread the word. Read about the Maoists of China sometime, they are the closest approximation to the right wing in America today. As a G.I. then I have to say I did not feel strongly one way or the other about Nam, when you grew up in the fifties you knew that communism must be fought as there was a belief in a domino effect in world governments. When you look back through the perspective of today you have to admit we sure travel through it lost. Terrorism is our bogeyman today and just as tenuous. Don't get me wrong there are bad people out there but the big T clouds rational thinking as Iraq proved. Two recent experiences, I was with friends I had know from childhood, a few went to Nam, there is no bitterness or criticism of those who protested although many are reluctant to discuss Nam as the memories are bad. And then I looked through my 65 HS yearbook and saw the faces of some who died. I wondered why. Our HS has a small stone monument with the names and I cannot look at the names without thinking of the loss of life for nothing really. Those were our times and while they represented the good and the bad we moved forward - ever so slightly - especially in civil rights and tolerance.

I am just back to make a clarification. I am not a prfessional writter as you might have guessed. Near the end of the fifth paragraph, I had originally written, Or perhaps history repeating itself in a less than general way. After thinking about it for awhile, I thought maybe I should have said, more than general way. Then I thought 'general' is so general. One could look at it from both ways, and be right. So I changed it to 'nearly specific'. Yes, that sounds much better. Because THAT IS HOW WELL things match up, nearly specifically. THINK about it people. Later.

Thank You for your perspective. When it comes down to the it, we are individuals and not groups. This is true. All of us are born into our own set of circumstances. We make certain desicions based on inherit judgment and the people around us and their beliefs. It has been this way for all of our existance. Mankind(or should I say a man) has managed to survive and thrive up to this point by generally looking out for himself and his own particular group or country. But times they are a changing, as they say. As the people of the world interact more and more with each other, the larger the groups that we support(or are suppost to support) become. And along with this, the bigger and badder our weapons become for fighting over our peice of pie. The challenge here is to evolve into a true world community with out destroying ourselves. If it is not terrorism that will cause damage like world has never seen, it will be China or someone else. Here is a portion of the Damascus Document that says how it is for ME. God loves knowledge.(remember science was surpressed by the early Church, from 1400 years ago or more) Wisdom and understanding he has set before Him, and prudence and knowledge serve Him. I believe that reincarnation is the way God loves everyone, by giving them another chance.

The reptilian imagery of David Icke's and His theory behind it gose like this. They are a 'secret society' that dates back to ancient Babylon, then to the Greeks and Romans, then to England and America. THIS is what really got my attention. The paragraph in my first post has the key words serpant and asps and it mentions Greece. For those still scoffing, quantum physics has all but proven things like spiritual realms and different realms of existance exist, on paper. Later.

Let me open by addressing this blasphemer with an age old question: How dare you?!

How dare you challenge a man of the cloth of such venerable learnedness as Archbishop Johnson?! A man who spent Saturday nights pouring over the Gospels, crafting his apostolically censorious skills while you were still nailing cheerleaders?! Challenging Archbishop Johnson's doctorial "up-to-snuffness" was adequately contemptible, but to question his just appointment by your Holy Lord calls into question not only your status in the Christian faith, but perhaps the firmness of your grasp on your own psyche!

However, after thoroughly biting through your barb, allow me to address the heart of your argument.

Again, how dare you call into question the spiritual validity of such a wondrous musical marvel as Woodstock? Not only do you call into question the very existence of Christ's soldiers (your esteemed Archbishops) but you call into question His direction over what is believed to be (among the hierarchy of the Catholic Church) as one of His most crowning earthly achievements, perhaps surpassed only by the Aurora Borealis, Mount Everest and Dolly Parton's breasts (Lord your strength, I implore You!)! How on earth could one possibly come to affirm that this most holy of spectacles could be in any way manipulated by the middle finger of the Beast?!

Sadly, all of Joe Cocker's Scottish alcoholic (redundant?) friends are no match for your seemingly endless vituperation. But thankfully, imbued with the Light of the Lord, I rub elbows with the likes of St. Stephen, St. Ignatius, St. Michael the Archangel and of course the most holy Archbishop Johnson and together we shall form a pietistic posse of sorts and in time slam your profane ass into the deepest scorching fires of Hell!

Going from taboo to "mainstream" is hardly proof of worth for any given idea; just compare divorce, abortion, and violent crime statistics before and after they came off the "taboo" list - which stats are smaller? Are we as a nation really better off with fewer tabos, rather than more of them? How can you achieve balance, if you have nothing to balance against?

And finally, I'd LOVE to see how you could fit Wavy Gravy and the Hog Farm Commune crowd into a Biblical context - without mentioning SWINE.......... ;D (think "as / does," to get the gist....)
