The people won this one.
George Bush proved democracy sometimes works very well right at home and that a party concerned only with power can be brought down a notch.
Voters woke up from the rhetorical dream that only taxes and image matter and realized life matters and how you live it and how you govern matter too.
It was a win for the people, let's hope and work to keep the democrats true to their campaign promises of an increase in minimum wage, better prescription drug prices, increased college support, cleaner environment, stem cell research, and the implementation of the 911 commission's recommendations. And they can have my tax reduction back today to help the troops.
Voters take a bow.

I think you can expect Pelosi to achieve almost everything she wants to achieve in the "First 100 hours" with Bush's impeachment Sword of Damocles swinging over him.
True to their spineless form they've already bagged Rumsfeld who, let me be the first to say, I believe history will show took a much more conservative stance on this war than this Administration has led us to believe. Rumsfeld's streamlining of the military, when you think about it, simply wasn’t easily applicable to nation building. Nations are built by bureaucrats, not Special Forces. The entire excursion has had the earmarks of a Bush faction debacle. Now they've pushed Rumsfeld aside and brought in Bush 1's dogs to clean up the mess.
Anyway, this was my first election and as much as it pains me to say this, I voted Democrat. Obviously my vote was anti-Republican rather than pro-Democrat, but I'm glad to see them take power. It's time for those insurance salesmen to sit in the corner for at least a couple years.

Ian, I hope the democrats do not get into recriminations, if they do we are lost with two twin parties. We'll have to bring independents in then lol. The republicans chased Clinton so long they forgot to look in the mirror. The spin will be interesting, any thing wrong in modern times was caused by the previous administration so what happens if something goes wrong now, who to blame - who to blame... Let's hope for a balance of power and an electorate that pays attention.
