Folks, I am totally disheartened.
I was watching CNN tonight and saw the longest string of disappointing political snapshots I've ever seen, back to back, in one sitting.
First, Alabama is now offering Driver's Education courses, and official driver's exams, in 16 languages.
Second, Texas is now requiring public school principals to be fluent in Spanish so as to be equipped for greater "outreach" to the non-English speaking portions of the student body at their schools. The students, however, are not being required to learn English.
Third, the shipping docks all around the US are practically unguarded and pose a major safety threat in this age of terrorism. To compound the problem, Bush doesn't have the funds to add more personnel to Homeland Security.
Fourth, the NAACP has petitioned the University of South Carolina to change the name of its baseball team to something other than "Gamecocks". Apparently, the word "gamecock" now poses undertones of racial discrimination. What the hell fuck?
Fifth, the Communist Chinese and the Russians (supposedly now democratic) have joined forces-- for the first time in history-- to exercise military maneuvers. Thousands of "Reds" were parachuting over an un-named beach in China while the Russian navy fired rockets over the water. (So we thought the Cold War ended, did we? Well, we'll see.)
Folks, this country is going down. The leadership is bad, the spirit is bad, and the cohesiveness is coming apart. It reminds me of the last days of Rome. Our borders are loose, our enemies are civilian fanatics, and most of our allies have left our side.
All this, and we have people making such a disgrace of themselves by calling for troop withdrawals because a single soldier got killed.
I just want to head out to the mountains and try recapturing whatever "America" used to be. Of course, there's not much of a chance for that now. Why do I have the feeling that we're all in for a "Last Stand"?

I often felt as you do Patriot. I asked myself (against my better, Republican-line-toting Hannitized judgement) questions such as "How do gas prices rise to $2.69 a gallon if we've occupied the world's 4th largest oil reserve? Whatever happened to the Gay Marriage Amendment the Bush gang touted around pre-election 2004? Why do the few fences built on the American-Mexican border have steps built into them?" At least you may take solace amid skyrocketing gas prices, multi-lingual driver's licenses, Cold War style war games, and bland, generic sports teams, my darling jingoist, in the fact that General Bush wages this "War for Democracy" in the dream of fulfilling what Charles Krauthammer put forth in 1989; an integration of Europe, Japan and America and a conscious depreciation of American sovereignty in the hopes of creating a New World Order! God/Allah/Yahweh/Mother Nature/L. Ron Hubbard Bless President Bush! And God/Allah/Yahweh/Mother Nature/L. Ron Hubbard Bless Ameropan!

Ian:
Every time the US has faced a crisis, the country has managed to pull itself together. So, we often think we'll do the same this time. In the words of FDR, "this great nation shall endure, as it has endured".
But the reality is, when so many diachronic changes sweep the cultural landscape, and the entire SPIRIT of the nation is altered from that of diehard frontiersmen, to gay activitists groups, we have no reason-- and I mean NO REASON-- to expect the same political or military outcomes of ages past.
This country became great on powder and lead. To maintain that greatness requires powder and lead.
It's all downhill from here. The floodgates have opened to immigrants who, for the first time in American history, are NO LONGER REQUIRED TO LEARN ENGLISH! Why is the Bush adminisrtation making it EASIER for these squatters to land jobs in the American heartland when so many inbred citizens are having a hard enough time maintaining their own?
Even if a congressional or presidential military draft was implemented, NO ONE would respond! We're a nation of cowards. Meanwhile the Chinese are building the biggest military arsenal in the world. Remember, the Chinese are still Communist. And if Russia can be swung back into a Chinese/Russo military alliance, we might end up having to deal with a trilateral Communist federation: China, Russia, and North Korea.
Can it get any worse?

Patriot:
Why is the Bush adminisrtation making it EASIER for these squatters to land jobs in the American heartland when so many inbred citizens are having a hard enough time maintaining their own?
For a couple reasons:
Globalism and Capitalism
The Bush family has not, and does not have any allegiance to the America you and I support unconditionally. Presidente Bush believes a safe world is a "unified" one. Bushites subsist on an apparition that the world, like a troublingly growing number of Americans, don't believe in anything and require nothing more than a kind word and a video game to be sated. Americans have been conditioned for decades to fulfill this liberal PC notion; the world has been conditioned for centuries to resist it. It absolutely boggles the Bushites how anyone could possibly believe in anything enough that they would be willing to kill themselves for a cause.
What fuels this globalist ideology? Money. The Bushes, Hannitys and Krauthammers have all sold there souls to a new form of globalism more dangerous and wrapped with widespread appeal than its earlier forms. It is no longer globalism in support of an Anti-American yet humanitarian ideal; it’s globalism founded solely on corporate hegemony. If these globalists have their way you can be sure they won’t be assuming Third World debt. The world will consist of several ruling multinational corporations answerable only to the Bushes, Krauthammers etc… We will all assume the position of the Mexican migrant only on the world stage. Well the world, especially, if not exclusively, the Muslim and Oriental ones, believe in something and their dogged determination to fulfill their goals I'm afraid is looking to be something more than what the majority of weak Americans are willing to wrestle.
This is no longer the American Age of Independence. America has slowly succumbed to the cancer caused and expatiated by the liberal philosophy and is in its last throws. I hope it’s not too late, but unless there is a dramatic alteration in thinking and the leadership of this country, she will give way to a merciless, profane sovereign, the likes the world has never seen, personified in the People’s Republic of China.

LMAO! Great comparison Patriot. A little degrading playing into the stereotypical "Wrestling Red State Republican", but funny nonetheless.

Im curious what's so wrong with:
"First, Alabama is now offering Driver's Education courses, and official driver's exams, in 16 languages. " -What's wrong with inclusivity? This doesnt mean that english is going to be wiped from Alabama. As a first generation citizen, I can tell you programs like this only help other people (like my parents). It's easier to learn in your mothertounge then a new language. (and Im not latin if you were thinking that)
"Second, Texas is now requiring public school principals to be fluent in Spanish so as to be equipped for greater "outreach" to the non-English speaking portions of the student body at their schools. The students, however, are not being required to learn English." - That doesn't mean the children are not going to learn english. They get a better education with a principle that's able to understand why a student with a disadvantage (like not knowing the language) is being sent to the office for not having homework done or what have you. Again, as Americans, isnt this something to be proud of? Older citizens helping the newer ones?
"Fourth, the NAACP has petitioned the University of South Carolina to change the name of its baseball team to something other than "Gamecocks". Apparently, the word "gamecock" now poses undertones of racial discrimination. What the hell fuck?" - Alritey, this one I agree with you. Ive never heard of gamecock being used as a racial slur. However, if the majority of people want or support the change...
"Fifth, the Communist Chinese and the Russians (supposedly now democratic) have joined forces-- for the first time in history-- to exercise military maneuvers. Thousands of "Reds" were parachuting over an un-named beach in China while the Russian navy fired rockets over the water. (So we thought the Cold War ended, did we? Well, we'll see.)"
- Sorry buddy this statement holds a little too much paranoia then I'm use to. So Russia and China are allies. Yes both countries have their share of human rights violations, however, America aint no peach either. What you feel against a Russian/Chinese alliance, most of the world feels against the Bush Administration.
"All this, and we have people making such a disgrace of themselves by calling for troop withdrawals because a single soldier got killed. " - I think most people are calling for a withdrawal because your troops have been in Iraq far too long, still no sign of cohesiveness in Iraq (NOT blaming the troops, but if, in the news we are hearing on a weekly basis ANOTHER suicide bomber has killed xx number of people or that certain arabic radio stations were paid to broadcast pro-american programs, something isn't working) and the president admitted that no WMD's were found in Iraq (one of the key reasons for invading).
As for the Gay Marriage Amendment? Welcome to Politics. Bush even said he favoured "some sort" of civil union to appease the GLBT community before the 2004 election. Why wont they're be a federal ban on same-sex marriage? Because the veep has a lesbian daughter.

This thread is just too pathetic for me to waste much time with. It's always grim when you lump things together. There isn't a time in our history where you couldn't have put problems in a lump and and cried and bit your pillow. Most of us probably wouldn't want to get out of bed in the morning if we really lumped everything together that we have to accomplish that day.
While I'm not in agreement with everything the president does, there isn't much on either of the lists of gripes that he has control over. For example, the marriage amendment died in congress. The president doesn't make laws, he signs them into law after the house and senate pass them. It doesn't have the votes. Who have you wrote a letter to about it?
So if you want to make it about him, you'll have to restrict the list to issues of border security alone. He's failed on that.
