Fair Tax or Flat Tax? There are plenty of pros on both sides. Which do you think is better for America? Because we all know the current system doesn't work.

Changing the label on the tax plan will not fix the problem. The problem is no matter what tax rate is in effect, there will always be a large group of tax-payers who will find a way to lessen their burden and save a few pennies.

The fair tax plan (if it is the same national sales tax I am thinking of - I apologize I did not click your links, only works if everybody in America spends the exact same percentage of their income. For example, if I make 10,000 a year and pay spend $7000.00 of that on good subject to this sales tax I am being taxed on 70% of my income. Now let's say some young hucklebuck makes $1,000,000.00 per year and only spends $100,000.00 on good subject to this sales tax. He only gets taxed on 10% of his income. Not very fair at all.

Not very fair at all. *Just a note, I'm not sure which plan I like yet, I'm just proving a point* Now, why would someone who made 1 million dollars only spend 100 grand? That seems really ridiculous. Wealthy people don't keep all their money in accounts. It's all kept in investments, bonds, and spend for personal reasons. How many millionaires do you think spend on their house each year? Probably more then 100 grand... So how does someone who makes 10 grand spend $7,000 (inlcuding sales tax) pay 70% in taxes? Are you saying all $7,000 is tax or that 70% of $7,000 is taxed? (which is $4,900) in taxes. That means (according to you) that they only spent $2,100 all year?

A flat tax, on ALL sources of income, with NO loopholes and only deductions for dependants...

A flat tax, on ALL sources of income, with NO loopholes and only deductions for dependants... Is this hucklebuck really Karl Marx. ...About the tax. Yes we are in quite a sad shape, and somehow wars on transparent enemies does not kick the economy into high gear - like the textbooks said it would. This is why I propose an abortion tax. Concur an extra tax on all income spent on abortions or earned from aborting. This will not only lower the deficit, but it will also discourage the slaughter of embryos.

You guys can keep debating or have an intelligent debate. This is the "Fair Tax Plan." It may do away with the IRS, but it puts the whole nation on welfare under The Dept of Health and Human Services. www.fairtaxvolunteer.org/smart/faq-main.html#1

So if it discourages people from having abortions, how will there be any money coming from this 'abortion tax?' (I'm not taking you seriously, just proving how your made-up point is hypocritical.) Anyway, I'm still leaning towards a flat tax. I pretty much agree (ironically) with what ImNotBenny said:

Abortion shouldn't be legal anywayz so why not tax the hell out of it, but seriously I say we get rid of welfare because that could help the budgets, and most poor people are just lazy anyways... So if it discourages people from having abortions, how will there be any money coming from this 'abortion tax?' (I'm not taking you seriously, just proving how your made-up point is hypocritical.) [if not, it should be!])" some people will want to avoid there feti from being born , thus aborting them, thus :ching: money in the bank. You 'discourage' rather than ban, that'll make it a fad, like slap bracelets in the early 90's, and baby's will be aborting like hot cakes. Maybe not so hypocritical after all, eh?
