I listen to Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh every day, because that is all we get on the radio during the day her in our "liberal media" (Colmes comes on KLIF at 10:30... when everyone listens to the radio...). Have listened to both shows for about 3 years now.
The scariest thing about those shows is not their outrageous hipocrisy, blinding ego's, distortion of the truth, party whoring, school yard bully interview tactics with people who try to amicably disagree with them (especially Hannity! He is unREAL!). No the scariest thing is the people who call to get on the radio so they can pat each other on the backs for being great Americans in a big love fest with the hosts. Without question it is an insecurity thing. It is so much easier to believe that you are righteous, than it is to accept that you are human. Especially with famous people at your disposal to validate those feelings, in the name of garnering ratings and a loyal fan base. After all, they have to be right... they're famous. Sure you can disagree, but you're wrong because you don't have a radio show, and both those guys will laugh in your face if you differ (caller: "I'm just not sure I'm convinced that we Americans shouldn't take on at least a fraction of the blame for Sept 11th" Rush: "Ah ha ha ha ha ... oh Steve you poor poor man.... Why do you hate America?" ) You can just feel how righteous they all beleive they are, and they are fueled by the bloated smirking hosts of those shows. People like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity are too egotistical to be trusted, just like Ted Kennedy and Al Gore. They can never be wrong. If they say something that is later proven to be wrong, count on it that they will not be willing to give one inch!! And it's just another Liberal conspiracy anyways. Because we all know, Liberals hate America (who is the brilliant person who first shat out that logic?) It isn't that they don't want to admit that they are wrong, it's that it is inconceiveable that they might be. And that mindset is fueled by their callers... I can't be wrong, all these people believe in me. This is all evidenced by their unending hipocracy. Lets take Rush's drug problem for example. It's incredible to me that after his own ordeal with drugs (has anyone seen the info on that? it is unreal the amount of pills this guy was taking), he was still unwilling to change his previous stance on the issue (ie "There should be no 3 strikes, these people should go straight to jail"). By that reasoning, you should be in prison Rush! Should you not be held to the same standards you advocate everyone else be held to? Can you really not give an inch in the name of reason and logic?? No. Because you exist in the non-reality based world of the media and that would make you fallible, and hurt your credibility with your base, THE MOST IMPORTANT THING FOR A HOST. They're like babies, it's infuriating. These guys are dangerous as far as their influence on common thought. There is no question they are a detriment to the progress and intellectual growth of the United States, as much as Gore, Kennedy and a hundred other pundits from the right and left (don't get me started on Ann Coulter, the most insecure person alive). I truly hope, for the sake of America, that the majority of people out there do not believe that John Kerry is a traitor, or that George Bush is Imperialistic and Evil. Down with extremism!! Down with self serving talk show hosts!!! Wake up and think for yourselves America!!!
