I doubt seriously that you have any conservative friends Find any credible source that shows that he is banning stem cell research. He has not approved funding for it. People are free to research all they want. Most of "those" making over $200k are small business owners, who account for a large portion of jobs. And the tax cuts are for those who pay taxes. specifics please He is opposing gay marriage, not gays. Typical distortion from you and others like you. All I can say to this one is, I'm glad you're not in charge of the country. But what's more frightening still, is that this is the Kerry mentality of defense of our nation, which is no defense at all. Just see what happens when we start scratching our defense systems. Think N. Korea, Iran, etc. . . are going to do the same? We have now, and have always had (no thanks to folks like you) the right to defend ourselves and promote democracy. Freedom to you, apparently is the proverbial gift horse. . . War is hell Vinny

Just a few observations from a newbie.
Uncle Vinny implies that we'd be better off with Saddam Hussein still in power. Really?
Where were you sixty years ago? You'd probably be saying the same thing about Hitler. After all, he wasn't a direct threat to the U.S. 1000 dead? How many millions died in WWII trying to take out the world's biggest bully at that time? How many did Hitler himself get rid of as part of his "final solution"? And how many Iraqis died under Saddam's regime before we got there? See any parallels here with these two leaders?
And by the way...if I recall correctly, aviator hero Charles Lindbergh was a Nazi sympathizer, as was Joseph Kennedy early on. So by your logic, they would both be supporting Bush in this election.
And the only fear and hatred I've seen in this thread has been generated by you, Uncle Vinny. Suppression of free speech? Honey, we haven't had free speech in this country for years. Where have you been? Everytime someone disagrees with the Democratic ideology, they're labeled a racist or a homophobe or a Nazi. There hasn't been honest discourse on issues for decades because someone might be "offended" by some real straight talk about crime, schools, race relations, etc. (Some of the most bigoted people I've run across in recent years have been black. But no one talks about that because it's not the politically correct thing to do and us whites STILL have to atone for something we had nothing to do with.) The only person with enough star power to have gotten to the nitty-gritty of why so many black kids are failing and getting into gangs is Bill Cosby. Naturally enough, he was widely criticized for his comments because, of course, they made sense and held the parents responsible.
I have never intentionally set out to offend or oppress anyone. Yet, as the mandatory "diversity class" I had to take at my place of employment made clear, compliments to co-workers were discouraged because the co-worker (or someone else) might be offended by my comments. Basically, we were all told that the only things that should be discussed at work is work. Bottom line is that discussing anything of a "personal nature" is to be discouraged.
This is what our society has come down to. A bunch of whiners who cry that life isn't fair. Wow! What a news flash. As my daughter has said...build a bridge and get over it. But no, the rest of us have to suffer because of these whiners who cry when they don't get their way, or things just don't work out for them, or someone else has something they want but they can't have, or someone has hurt their feelings or made them angry or put a dent in their self esteem or, (God forbid) NOT EVERYONE LIKES THEM!!! Boo-hoo. Everyone has become a victim and no one takes responsibility for their actions or their lives anymore because there's always a class-action lawsuit that will fix things, or a government program that will make it all better. Free speech??? It's a thing of the past.
Maybe if Clinton had done something other than lob a bomb or two after terrorists killed a fair number of U.S. personnel while he was in office, maybe the terrorists wouldn't have become emboldened to kill 3,000 of our U.S. citizens on our soil and maybe we wouldn't be in Iraq now. Yeah, Clinton didn't exactly take us to war, but at what cost now? Instead we went to Somalia (that one was a real treat...and for what???) And Kerry wants to "work with" the UN? No thanks. They're irrelevant and they rarely support the U.S., so why bother? Personally, I think the UN should be outsourced to France or Germany and then we can turn the headquarters into affordable housing and/or one big homeless shelter so the Democrats can finally shut up about those particular issues.
The problem with you and your fellow libs is that you haven't grown out of the 70s. Or maybe you're too young to have been part of that era, in which case I'm assuming your parents were a big part of it then. Another reason why our society is in such a mess...too many former flower children in charge of our public institutions and setting policy.
Grow up and smell the roses.

Looking at the replies to my posts - - and ignoring all the comments that belie the Christian Love and Compassionate Consevatism - - then ALL the responses are about war, protection, aggression, killing, and imperialism.
If you have the intelligence to log onto a computer, then surely you can see your arguments are FEAR-based. What happens once the country is secure - don't you want your children to be free of war, don't you want your family to have health care?
Is the concept that you're being duped so very scary to you that you won't consider that Bush is stealing your healthcare money though a fear game, where you are willingly giving all your resources to big corporations like Halliburton, big tobacco, oil firms, etc, just because he has you spooked by the "mushroom cloud" argument?? I really thought people here were smart enough to figure that out. Guess not. That small business keyword is another example. These are not small businesses - these are RICH people. DO you really think a rich person (small business owner) who has another $40,000 in his pocket is going to hire another worker? No, he will buy his second yaught and make the other 3 workers do even more work at $10 per hour. Only a fool would fall for that arguement.

Who doesn't want peace for their children and grandchildren? Who doesn't want a world without war? The reality is that if the U.S. withdraws from the rest of the world and lays down its arms as you want, a large portion of the world is still going to want to destroy us for the simple reason that we exist. Do you honestly think all the terrorists are suddenly going to change their agenda? Clinton cut the military and intelligence budgets to the bone while in office. Did it stop the terrorists from attacking? If America is such an awful country, why do so many millions immigrate here, legally and illegally?
As far as my "resources" going to big corporations...most of my paycheck supports programs and services for people who leech the system for all its worth and then cry when someone tries to say "no".
You're looking for a perfect world in which everyone loves everyone and everyone is treated fairly and (God forbid) no one has anything more than anyone else. It's never going to happen. There will always be poor, there will always be suffering, there will always be unfairness in life. And there will always be someone who hates the U.S. (some inside our own borders) just because we exist.
And the World Order that Kerry and his ilk seem so in love with...where are they whenever the U.S. is struck by floods, hurricanes, etc.? Have you ever seen anyone rushing to our aid? Didn't think so.
Again, grow up and smell the roses.

Viscious Bush tactics 1. When Bush was running for governor of Texas against Ann Richards, he had the Carl Rove/ Atwater blitzkreig team in place. They plastered all the cars in the parking lots of fundamentalist churches with flyers showing two men kissing, and hinted that Richards was pro-gay. This underhanded smear campaign reversed a 9-point lead for Richards into a 4-point lead for Bushnazi, who later claimed "it wasn't from our campaign." In lessons learned from his dad in the CIA, they kept just enough distance to allow "plausible deniablility" but everyone knew it was Bushnazi. 2. When Bushnazi was running in the primary against John McCain, his Rove/Atwater SS team again used a smear against McCain, a decorated war hero, suggesting McCain went a little nutty while he was a POW. They also funded a telephone campaign asking voters "Would you still vote for McCain if you knew he had a black child?" hinting his wife was sleeping with a black man. Truth is, they adopted a Bengladeshi child. 3. In Bushnazi vs. Kerry, we have the phoney Swift Boat ads, again with just enough distance from the RNC to allow plausible deniability; but again, we all know who's behind it. So now that Bush is dead even in the polls they are pulling out all the stops, and abandoning any appearance of legitimacy, by voter registration campaigns that shred the registration forms of democrats, and Jeb Bush again is rigging the voting machines in Florida. Next, enter the Sinclair group - illegally showing anti-Kerry propaganda, in violation of election rules. I expect, too, a last minute underground smear campaign from Carl Rove in the last days before the election. Let's see how low they can go.

UV,
Why do you hate rich people? Why do you think you are somehow entitled to the fruits of their work? What have they done that you can't do for yourself? If you spent as much time and energy improving yourself as you spend venting your blind envious rage toward anyone more successful than you, you'd be surprised what you can do for yourself. How many poor people have ever signed your paycheck? If you hate rich people you must surely despise John Kerry. He owns five mansions. He and his wife have more money than they could spend in 10 lifetimes. Do you hate him, too? George Bush is poor compared to Kerry. 75% of the people who work for the Heinz enterprise live in another country. Does outsourcing only apply to Republicans?
Could you please answer these questions for me?

All is forgiven Mighty! I've seen the light! (Unbelievable, isn't it!!?? ) Mmm, seems I have gotten off the high road and onto a partisan arguement. Getting back: One thing we can agree on is that the nation is split. How do we get back to be truly 'United'?? The mechanism here, the dynamic, is that we are all judging each other. I look at facts, judge that one person/party/arguement is WRONG, then place all the guilt on that external evil. We all do the same thing, so now in order to regain some sense of peace we have to blame something out there and make it guilty. All of this is based on judgements we've made. But our knowledge is incomplete. None of us can honestly say we know what's best for all persons involved, in every situation, from time immemorial to the distant future. It's like saying, "If ony (insert your candidate) is elected I would have peace, I would be 'saved.' And it IS salvation we're talking about. Truth is, we are 'saved' not by some political stance, but by being sustained, permeated with the love of God. Only that will sustain us, not the defeat or demonization of our opponents.

I have only 3 questions for my Democrat friends; Why is your party so willing to allie your selves with the corrupt oil for food program and it's administration?why is it that the mainstream news media rarely addresses this issue and why hasn't this been addressed by the Kerry Camp? I guess for the left and their Euro friends the war in Iraq is all about the oil!

A new survey among Iraqis shows most would NOT support the US-backed puppet ruler Awalli, but would instead vote for their local religious clerics. This is the "worse case scenario" for the Bush administration. It shows the dumb strategy to try to force feed democracy to the Iraqis is a lost cause. And still the chief insists he will 'stay the course!' So what are all the 30,000 Iraqi deaths, 1000 American deaths, 7000 wounded and maimed - what was it all for? They will just go back to their feudal ways, and we get stuck with the bill. What fools. And STILL these war dogs insist the killing is justified!
How dumb can you get?

War is hell Vinnie but it is sometimes necessary.
If we went by your standards we'd be speaking Japanese or German right about now. Of course maybe the automobiles would be better or the hamburger would taste different.
I think I've finally hit on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That what all this liberalism is about, You all want a japanese flavored hamburger. Why not let me invent you one and then we can stop listening to your propaganda

You caught me, Scrap - all I want is a good hamburger! Yes, war is hell, so let's go into it as a last resort, not as some ego-driven power trip by a Yale cheerleader. Now see how the Chief Dumbo has let 385 TONS of military grade weapons slip into the hands of insurgents in Iraq. Yet another colossal error by Bush. I would not want to send my sons or brothers to that war. Now Bush has guaranteed - Endless war, unwinable war, and deeper dept. Lord, have mercy! These colors don't run . . . . the world!

I don't think we've heard the last about those weapons yet.
It may be that they were already gone.
Let's see how much hype it's given by the biased media if that's the case.
Watch and see.
