For those of you in the Virginia, Maryland, and DC suburbs interested in attending the massive annual National Memorial Day Parade in person, announcements as follows:
The parade, which begins at 8:00am and runs until 11:00am, is comprised of Marching Bands and Veterans units from all 50 states. It begins at 3rd Street and Madison Drive, proceeds south to Independence Avenue, then proceeds west on Independence Avenue to 12th Street.
I attended this parade last year (amid torrential rain) and stood on top of a four foot cinder block for three hours, without an umbrella, to personally review, and applaud, our troops. I ended up ruining an excellent navy blue blazer in the process, but it was a small price to pay.
Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and warm. I encourage anyone who hasn't seen this parade in person, and who is within driving distance to Washington DC, to get up at the crack of dawn tomorrow and get a good view of this spectacle.
Also, look for Patriot (yours truly) standing on the same cinder block as last year on Independence Avenue.

Your utterly selfless exercise in unparalleled patriotism is truly humbling.
I hope the experience rivaled that of last year.
BTW, how about posting a pic for your fellow representatives from the other parts of the country who were able to attend in spirit only?

Hey Ian:
Rofl! Very funny. I didn't mean it that way; I was just relaying the facts about my attendance last year. Right now I'm enjoying the aftermath of a BBQ with Sam Adams beer.
Actually this year was a lot better thanks to the weather.
I'm no representative! I just live in DC. One of the lucky few. Of course, if you really want me to be Rantweb's "Voice on the Hill" I'd consider it. ;D
