Just thought about this..
I think NASA operates on $1 million a year from the govt. +funding from other sources. What would happen if we cut "Foreign Aid" in half and diverted those extra funds to NASA. Think of what they have done with what they get now, and think of what they could do with 5 to 10 times as much. Star Trek? I don't think so, but we might be able to find other cleaner sources of energy from our other planets. Just a thought for the dogs to chew on.

my granddad worked on baikonur, the launchpad in kazachstan and he told me one launch costs a million dollars and that was than, about 30 years ago. it can't be much different in us an i'll tell you that russian launches were in fact cheaper than american. that's why baikonur still has lot's of work to do (besides getting extra cash on the side by taking tourists to sapce). so the budget might be more like 1 billion i'd say.

What TEXT happen if we cut forgien aide in half? Do you know what cutting half our forgien aide would do to people that don't have anything and don't have a government to support them? I don't know for sure, but we should consider that question very seriously. I know it's just a thought that you put out there, but why shouldn't we instead look into ways to save energy, many already exist, so we don't have to gamble our money away in space when there are suffering people here that could really use that money.

cutting foreign aid is defintely not a good idea...we can defintely get the money from somewhere else...but im not really sure what good NASA has done...im just ignorant on that subject and have never really heard anything good about NASA...so what are these good things that they have done?

I wonder instead what would happen if we slashed NASA's budget, our millitary budget, and taxed each gallon of gas a dollar a gallon. Then we took the money that we gained from that and improved our public schools in towns that have horrible public schools. Then we increased foreighn aid to the point where people aren't dying of extremely easy to prevent things like starvation, or malnutrition. Then maybe the rest of the world would start to apreciate us, maybe we wouldn't need to go to war, or have to worry about terrorism. Of course there will always be people out there who are willing to kill for their beliefs, I just want us to stop being one. I think a much better and easier goal to reach would be to have peace on earth.

Why is it the left always wants to "tax?" Perhaps we should take these ideas a step further and cut the riduiculous level of spending under Bush's administration and use the money for NASA and other constructive projects. We have plenty of money in Washington already. It's time to re-read the Grace Commission report and go to work on cutting government waste. Bush better get too it pretty soon.
