Curious how everyone want to find some simple reason and then point their finger there. There are lots of reasons why but few people have the courage or strength to face them. Our gun ridden society is part of the reason, our hateful class dominated atmosphere is part of the reason, mental illness is part of the reason, easy access to weapons is part of the reason, our violent TV and movies are part of the problem, our violent electronic games are part of the issue, social media is part of the reason, our us against them mentality is part of the reason, lots more because as a society no one admits wrong, our lax gun laws are part of the reason, our culture is part of the reason. Explain the Vegas shooter for instance. They're examining his brain rather than the nation he existed in and its values and dilemmas. Explain mass murderers or serial killers are they not too part of the equation? Humans possess complicated motives and when they travel down this evil road the reason doesn't often make sense. It then becomes society's hard problem how to manage humans who want to kill. Other nations have managed it, American seems unable or unwilling to. Just maybe mass shootings occur because they can.

"The current Australian gun laws were passed after 35 were killed and 23 wounded in a 1996 mass shooting in Port Arthur, Tasmania. The shooter was able to buy his assault rifle, even though later he was later determined by authorities to have an IQ of 11. There hasn't been a mass shooting in Australia since then." www.wow.com/article/M8miNA/10443780
"In 1991, Warren E. Burger, the conservative chief justice of the Supreme Court, was interviewed on the MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour about the meaning of the Second Amendment's "right to keep and bear arms." Burger answered that the Second Amendment "has been the subject of one of the greatest pieces of fraud--I repeat the word 'fraud'--on the American public by special interest groups that I have ever seen in my lifetime." In a speech in 1992, Burger declared that "the Second Amendment doesn't guarantee the right to have firearms at all. "In his view, the purpose of the Second Amendment was "to ensure that the 'state armies'--'the militia'--would be maintained for the defense of the state."
