My new book, Intellectual Assault: Academic Anti-Americanism and the Distortion of 9/11, is now in print and available for purchase at amazon.com and barnesnoble.com, among other sites.
The book uses a vast fund of quotes by professors and academic adminstrators about America in the aftermath of 9/11 to show what they think about the United States. The results are not pretty. And the inescapable conclusion that Intellectual Assault draws is that anti-Americanism is a potent and broad-based force on campus. Moreover, it is one that we must confront and defeat if we are to stem the ongoing degradation of the United States.

I'm often amazed or is that amused over this need by some to criticize fellow Americans for exercising their constitutional right to free speech. What would you have them do? Hide in some corner in fear or ask hard questions on why this happened to us? Freedom is tough for some and critics of America's policies at times are the citizens who eventually work so these vicious acts of terrorism do not happen again. Another aspect of this I find a bit ironic. Since the democrats have won the presidency, there are many in this nation who have nothing good to say about our democratically elected government. Are they OK in their negative attitude towards American democracy, or is this somehow different from the so called intellectuals you mention above. Weird how 'intellectual' is a pejorative term for many Americans? Ponder that for a bit. www.amazon.com/Intellectual-Assault-Academic-Anti-Americanism-Distortion/dp/1449083226/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1270550114&sr=1-1

Your post is a bit ironic, midcan. The author exercising his own free speech in no way silences anyone.

Your post is a bit ironic, midcan. The author exercising his own free speech in no way silences anyone. What I find ironic is the last administration was a failure, everyone admits that even as the revisionism of history begins. Obama has done better than Reagan in his first year and half and yet he is called every name under the sun and the nutcases are coming out of the woodwork. Much as they did when Clinton was elected. Freedom means being responsible and that in missing in the rhetoric of the far right.

I find it rather misleading to write that their is some sort of anti-American campaign going on anywhere in this country. Of course that notion is indeed what the right-wing thinks: becasue they have to; it's all part of their campaign. What they don't do however, and from the OP, I see they still will not do, is write about what this coutnry really is these days: what's being found and what changes are taking place as a result.
I wish the right would try and expemlify some of their supposed values instead of trying to deiscredit the values of others.

I find it rather naive to thing there isn't an anti-American campaign going on.
What would this administration be doing different if they were trying to screw up America?
Nothing....
