I was riding home today after a middle distance bicycle ride, tired and a bit out of shape when I started counting cars, America - foreign, American - foreign. It occurred to me if only a small percentage of these people, the people who can afford more than a used clunker, bought American there would be no problems in one of our largest industries today. And lots of people would have a job and lots of businesses would be OK. May even help those incompetent bankers.

So I started giving thumbs up for American and thumbs down for foreign. Hard to distinguish which foreign car is made here, but no need I am a bit of a hard core American when it comes to cars. My '55' Chevy was my first love.

I'm sure the people thought me spastic, as my left hand thumb pointed up, then down, then up as cars drove by. Did anyone figure it out I wondered. Who is this nut! So if the whiners who lost the election can out of the blue, protest taxes, can we not protest something that has been going on for years due to cheaper prices, support structures, and no pensions, but still is having an insidious affect on our industrial base?

So if you own foreign go to you nearest mirror and give yourself a thumbs down and if you own American and thus support all of us and America, a thumbs up is due and thank you. Take to the streets and express yourself. The bankers thank you too.

Oh, and my bicycle is made in America too.

Are the auto workers in foreign car manufacturing plants in Indianna, South Carolina and other parts of our country less American than those in the Big 3? Should they be boycotted because they do not belong to a corrupt union?

I own a foreign company car manufactured in American and I am proud to drive it knowing I am not supporting some corrupt union boss.

Yes, I also own a bicycle made in the USA, though not all the parts are made in the USA.

How do you know unions are corrupt? I worked in a union in my early days in the workforce and they are simply trying to give workers a fair shake. Unions established the standard of living we enjoy today.

I think it is great that Americans are getting paid for putting together foreign cars. But notice the words putting together. What will happen if we become a country that has no industrial base.

People buy foreign cars because they are cheap. Why are they cheap, because they do not provide the benefits American car manufacturers did, because they are subsidized by their nations, because they get tax breaks in America to build here and often take advantage of lower paying areas of the nation. Nothing bad ther but nothing good for America there either in the long run.

I will buy a foreign car when they build American cars in Japan and Korea, I will buy a foreign car when they support me and the country, till then I'll continue to support America.

I will never own a foriegn car. For that matter i will never own a car built after1974. my last car was a '72 Catalina and her transmission went out after 204k miles. granted I was only getting 8-11 MPG but I could push all those little foriegn cars around and all they could do was turn tail and run.

LOL And I thought I was bad! My 55 Chevy V8 2 Door Sedan was my first love, but after driving my son's 68 Nova I think I like our Buick.
