Did ya'll see Kerry's reaction to the Iraqi Election on Meet the Press yesterday? What a bitter, bitter man. He questioned the legitimacy of the election and said that we shouldn't "overhype" its success. PLEASE!
Sunday marked the first time in 50 years that Iraq has held free elections. Somewhere between 60 and 70% of eligible voters turned out despite insurgent threats that the streets would be red with voters' blood. Millions of Iraqis danced in the streets and celebrated the historic occasion. Tell the freedom starved Iraqis not to overhype this, Mr. Kerry. Tell THEM to stop dancing in the streets, you scum.
Legitimacy? This is the second election in three months that has not gone the way John Kerry wanted it to, and in both cases what has he done? He's questioned its legitimacy. Even though I could have predicted his reaction, it makes me no less disgusted with that repugnant pig of a man.
By golly, if I were an Iraqi who had braved car bombs and insurgent threats in order to vote for the first time in my life I'd tell John Kerry to go straight to hell. Don't try to downplay this event to the Iraqis.
First and foremost, this is an unprecedented success for the Iraqi people. We can't get a 60% turnout in America when all we have to do is hop in our cars and drive 5 miles to the local elementary school. Many of these people WALKED more than ten miles to vote. Tell them, Mr. Kerry, that this was no big deal. While we complain incessantly about long lines, they stared down the threat of death in order to vote. We could all learn something from this.
Secondly, this is a victory for George Bush, and that's what has Kerry so bitter. When asked if he thought the election had gone better than expected, he responded, "Its gone AS expected"...very telling.
Had he even had the SLIGHTEST reason to declare this election a total debacle, he would've. But for Kerry to state that the election went "as expected" means it was a tremendous success. He (along with fellow scum Barbara Boxer and Ted Kennedy) was one of the ones who hoped this would blow up in Bush's face. He went to bed Saturday night hoping for an election failure like a ten year old goes to bed on Christmas eve hoping for a new bicycle. When he woke up Sunday morning and heard of the overwhelming success of the Iraqi election he was as disappointed as the kid who finds a pair of socks under the tree.
There is still a lot of work to be done in Iraq. There will be more violence for sure, but this is a resounding victory for freedom. This election wasn't perfect, but you can't get it perfect the first time. What this does say is that freedom is winning, the Iraqi people are winning, and they want to be free. Would the cause of freedom have made this huge step had Al Gore been President?
