What do you mean by "character" any way? Is this some kind of Americanism that I haven't heard of?
Can you please point to the parts of history and reality that shows that progressive taxation rather than poll tax has helped rather than hurt people in the past.
Ahh the conservative motto - Imply that everyone to the left of Dick Cheney is pushing for "world socialism".
Census information shows that throughout the 90's one in four children lived below the poverty line, and that in some places (such as New York) this figure was getting worse.
I'm assuming that because you called the WHO "socialist" you beleive that it is a bad thing and this must be gotten rid of. This would be a complete distaster and would probably be the results of thousands if not millions of deaths...
Its not that people can't afford Bupa, many just see it as a waste of money because the NHS is good enough as it is.
Stop being so arrogant and ethnocentric. I can't stand petty "my country is better than yours attacks".

So you favor a progressive tax structure, Huh? Did you know that idea is also a fundamental principle preached in Marx's Communist Manifesto? We all see how that turned out, thanks in no part to our recently-deceased national and world hero, President Ronald Reagan.

So do you favour a flat tax system?
Oh so suddenly every country with a progressive tax system (including America) is communist! I can see what you are doing here, its the classic move of many right wingers I have talked to.
You are saying that progressive tax = idea of Marx Lenin seized power in October 1917 = in the name of marxism Thus progessive tax = Soviet Union.
Tyring to discredit my argument in this way shows no historical understanding what so ever. As I have said before Leninism and Stalinism were both weired mutations of marxism, and the majority of socialists in Russia did not support Lenin when he took power.
Marxism, when not applied in its purest, revolutionary form, has done a lot to help society. The welfare system, progressive taxation and trade unionism have pulled the western world out of the nightmare of classical liberal ideology that was the 19th century.
Is your argument that you wish for a flat tax (or poll tax), and a return to the laissez faire liberalism of the past?

I have a life and a sick child right now. Please address your rants to the board in general and not to me in specific.
