Sometimes the truth stands right in front of us waving flags, and we still don’t see it. Many today are worried by the latest growing insurgence in Iraq; the escalation of resistance by terrorists and the increased death toll. It will continue right up until, and for a while after, the transfer of power, June 30.
Terrorists don’t want Bush to transfer power. They want Muslims to continue seeing the Coalition in charge, because then they can continue spreading myths about “America Invading and taking over Iraq.” You know - the kinds of clichés Kiss likes to peddle.
It is very effective propaganda, and terrorists don’t want to lose it.
Many of the uneducated poor peasants roped into working for Saddam’s henchmen, actually believe those lies; that the US has stolen Iraq for oil and others like them.
When they see the power in Iraq transferred back to Iraq, and the US flag not flown, they will be amazed, and much harder to recruit.
The terrorists must try and stop this, and this is why there has been such an escalation. Once the transfer takes place, you will see, over the months that follow, an evaporating resistance.
We won't be leaving Iraq for a long time. The transfer of power is one thing, but it's mostly symbolic, and the new Iraq will still depend on our support for some time. The important thing is to remember the psychology of this, and how it will help stop or slow down terrorist propaganda and recruitment.

I agree, it will be a long time before the US can leave that area but no different than any other place we've assisted when asked or begged in this circumstance. Man, I'd hate to be in Iraq or even be an Iraqi living there. I suppose it's better now though. At least millions won't be killed, tortured, beaten, and on and on. I have to admit it's getting better all the time. they're population now will grow instead of diminish. What good friends to have... they can help us get our gas prices lower... eventually. Unlike most libby's state, Bush has issued the statement recently that he'd like to the country full control over the oil production there rather than one person or group. So it would become a true democracy. Now that would be interesting. Wow, could they prosper. If I were an evil dictator I'd try to take over that country and run it all.... oh wait that's history with another... oh well too late again.. i missed my calling.
