Mo, I am not bashing Christianity, I am questioning you who FAKE to be a Christian because of your total lack of compassion.
And your INABILITY to heed Jesus' words "TURN THE OTHER CHEEK".
Mo, compassion for maimed and dead American soldiers caused by EVIL GEORGE BUSH'S LIES of Iraq's imminent threat to the U.S.?
Can you be honest like a real Christian? Or are you a FAKE Christian?

I come to boards for debate with knowledgeable people. It is not my job to educate you! "TURN THE OTHER CHEEK". It has nothing to do with war unless you are a Quaker or an Amish or somthing like that. The sermon on the mount is about interpersonal relationships. Almost all Christian denominations acknowledge that. Don't start throwing around Bible quotes when you don't know what they mean. I suggest you take a Bible study class. You know not of which you speak.

Almost all Christian denominations acknowledge that. Don't start throwing around Bible quotes when you don't know what they mean. I suggest you take a Bible study class. You know not of which you speak. I would have to argue with you here. From my reading of the Bible, I've come to the conclusion that Jesus was more or less a pacifist. Luke 22 49. When they which were about him saw what would follow, they said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword? 50. And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear. 51. And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him. Matthew 28 51. And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his ear. 52. Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.

You do realize, I hope, that you posted two versions of one event. Yes, the arrest needed to happen.
If He was a pacifist, explain His actions in the Temple. Also, He told others to go and sin no more. Why did he not tell the centurion such a thing?

I was hoping to learn some REASON from all of you, not this heavy-handed shutting out people, bashing, personal attacks, AVOIDANCE of answering questions, and a total LACK of COMPASSION and COURAGE!!! Mo, Favre, tell me, are Evil Bush's wrongful death and maiming of thousands of American soldiers due to Evil Bush's LIES about imminent threat from Iraq a CRIME against humanity and a DISGRACE of Christianity? Is honesty a Christian virtue? Why are you all helping Evil Bush LIE? Why threaten to shut me out? Why are you afraid of me if you have REASON? Shutting me out means you have NO REASON, and a disgrace of Christianity!!! - Jesse

Trust that I do not fear you. I do not respond to threats very well. Your assertion that you will follow me around the board and hijack all threads to a discussion of the war is an offense which, if carried out, will result in you being banned. You're being childish.
My compassion for the casualties of this war is so great that I don't suggest that their deaths are in vain, as you do. Interesting that you bash both the POTUS and Christianity during this time of war but have said nothing to denounce terrorism or murderous dictators like Saddam. If Bush is evil because 50 million more people are free in two oppressive governments and the taliban and Saddam have fallen, then it is obvious where you stand in the struggle between good and evil.
The President made his decision to go to war based on his leadership of a nation with a secular government. However, his actions do not contradict his faith.
Since Jesus knew about Judas Maccabeus, who fought five Syrian armies, where is there any evidence that Jesus ever condemned Judas Maccabeus? The apostle Paul said, "He who wields the sword wields it not in vain, for he is a minister of God to bring justice or judgment against the ungodly, against the kidnapper, against the murderer." He was certainly speaking of the need of a police force and military. "Turn the other cheek" is to be interpreted in the individual sense. It was not meant to speak to the collective. There comes a point where rightous people must act on behalf of the helpless. Otherwise, we could not punish wrongdoing. Hunting evil and destroying it where it lives is also a Biblical theme. Luke 22
36He said to them, "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.
In this passage, Jesus is telling his diciples to use self-defense when neccessary. It does not contadict Matthew 5:39. Jesus said that we should not seek revenge, he did not say that we shouldn't defend ourselves or others.

All you do is say the same thing over and over again. What if I told you that I wasn't a Christian, and that I worshipped QUEZALCOATL, the MESOAMERICAN CREATOR, and that he tells me that we should invade the entire Middle East? WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR LITTLE "DISGRACE TO CHRISTIANITY" TAUNT, THEN? HUH? I THINK YOU'RE A DISGRACE TO QUEZALCOATL!* *I do not really worship Quezalcoatl.

"Let every man who hath not a sword fashion his plowshare into one." -Jesus (LATER) "Let every man who hath not a plowshare now fashion his sword into one." -Jesus
In conclusion, I would have to say that it would appear that Jesus recognized the necessity of war in dire circumstances.

That could be metaphorical for fighting of satan and the evils of the world. In the eyes of God all evils of the world mean the seven deadly sins (speaking in terms of christianity) - so the "sword" could be your words, to say, oppose war, hunger, greedy corporations, hateful speech about gays/blacks/women/etc.
Just a thought...

EDITED You are only repeating hyperbole hate talk about the POTUS and insulting people's faith. I tried to respond to your points and you just repeated more of the same tired, insulting, Christian bashing rhetoric.
Take your religion bashing elsewhere. It's against board rules.
