"Ah so you weren't aware of the idiots in the whole UK 'Stop the War' campaign- some of whom didn't even protest for those reasons (Kids as young as 11 had a school strike. If these people were sensibly encouraging kids into their protests they should have encouraged them out of school hours)"
You make it sound like the protest organisers were scraping the bottom of the barrel to find enough protesters.
Pretty big barrel consiering the 1.5 million people who came out onto the streets on february 15 last year.

Very amusing. So going to war on false intelligence was justified?

What the hell is the point of that ad?
It's offensive. It trivializes the right of dissenters to protest. And the whole warning about 'protesting under an actual evil and/or oppressive government' thing is utter crap. Instead of actively trying to quash dissent, and dismissing those who would oppose the status quo OUT OF HAND, try attempting some understanding.
You're obviously a conservative, and thus a proponent of business. Ever read the business book 'the 7 habits of highly effective people' ?
One of those habits is 'Seek first to understand, then to be understood'. As such, my first reaction was to attempt understanding your reasons for putting that up there. Seems you were just 'joking'. Albeit, joking to the converted, to get support for your point of view, thereby validating your obvious derision towards protesters of any kind. Dehumanizing the opposition/enemy is a tactic used by dictators and tyrants throughout history. Making fun of the freedom of an individual to protest? Pathetic. And scary. Thank goodness you don't have any real power besides being the 'host dawg' of a pathetic excuse for a 'rant web'.
Perhaps a motto for these boards could be "Dissenting opinions not tolerated, Juvenile insults towards them preferred".
I find that graphic offensive. Especially since I can almost hear your sickening, self-satisfied guffaws. You have one seriously closed mind, dude.
You're guaranteed to be first against the wall when the revolution comes. Dumbass.

You make me laugh! Right of dissent is a two way street. You have every right to protest just as I have every right to make fun of your dumb ass. When the revolution comes, my side will be the side that owns guns.

touche. dumbass.
and who says my side doesn't have guns? AK-47's, perhaps not. Hunting rifles, in spades.
Like I said, you'll be first against the wall when the revolution comes.

ROFLOL If you find the picture offensive, I suggest you grow thicker skin or stay away from conservative message boards. I never lurk at DU where I don't read something I believe to be in poor taste! And I ONLY lurk because conservaties aren't allowed to post there. So much for liberals being tolerant of dissent.

Well let's see. Most of the Democrat/ Liberal boards don't allow conservatives to post. It's right in the rules! Yet you come to a conservative rant board and accuse me of trying to shut down dissent? That is so hypocritical it's funny! You don't have a right to not be offended. To claim that you are is to try and shut down dissent. Argue with what I say, not my right to say it! Liberals are such girlie men! Whaaahhhhh! You hurt my feelings!

MO, you nailed it.
The Lib boards are always crying free speech (and NPR has it's "Free Speech Radio News") but to them :free speech" means any speech that espouses their point of view and no other.
Contrary opinions are deemed "inflammatory" and are not permitted. Period.
Too bad we intolerant conservatives tolerate a Liberal point of view...isn't it? (Just Kidding!)

Hello UkBushgirl! I'm also English and pro-Bush. There are a few of us out here!
The reason, BTW, that the monarch can't be catholic is that catholics owe ultimate earthly allegiance to the Pope. Thus, the British ruler would be the subject - essentially - of a foreign potentate. That was why England broke away from the catholic church.

And your side has hunting rifles? AFTER it backs the ACLU and PETA, so they can release imprisoned minks on mink farms??? Ha!

Lets be honest here, all of this back biting is irrelevant. Liberal, Conservative, Libertarian, Socialist or Nationalist. They all end up being the same when they get into power so does it really matter? Here in England, the Labour Party are now more to the right than the Conservatives, who in turn have taken the place of the Lib Dems forcing the Lib Dems to occupy the position that Labour once held. Its all oppotunism and it pretty much sums up how politicians will say or do anything to get into power. Once upon a time: Left Labour - Liberal Democrats - Conservative RightPresent day Uk: Left Liberal Democrats - Conservative - Labour RightWhat the...? I'm beggining to think that an Anarchist direct democracy is the only way to truely represent the people.

Wow this is an interesting board...Ted, do you get out much? read the news? come on...everyone knows the whole blair situation--buddy of bush, not only that, but i got to to see the situation firsthand (studying at oxford university, go magdalen college!) !!! The uk generally has a problem with bush- read the main papers daily from about 5 countries- I hate how this is all about Them vs. Us situation, we are all americans...can you see it...we are just creating this dichotomy that won't help us in the end, we all have to face the same problems...it shouldn't be about liberals vs. conservatives or any other partisans. It shouldn't be about sides, it should be about the issues...use the energy to be productive girls and boys, and stop name-calling (lets leave second grade). Agree to disagree on some issues, lets try to work together--and by the way i know plenty of liberals who have guns, its not just conservatives who have them...people have different interests, some people have guns and some people don't, some people are into religion and some aren't, some people are conservative and some aren't, we are all individuals...stop generalizations. We should tolerate different viewpoints, because we are a country based on individualism--we aren't all the same!! face it, and lets make merry---lets work together and solve these problems we face, "united we stand"--learn people.
