Someone posted a poll asking about each of the folowing and did they represent conservatism or liberalism:
1. Opposition to freeing the slaves.
2. Opposition to the establishment of child labor laws.
3. Opposition to the establishment of food industry regulations.
4. Opposition to the establishment the National Parks System.
5. Opposition to the establishment of Social Security.
6. Opposition to the establishment of Medicare.
7. Opposition to the end of segregation.
8. Opposition to the establishment of Civil Rights Laws and Voting Rights Laws.
9. Opposition to women’s rights in the workplace.
10. Opposition to anti-trust legislation.
11. Opposition to the direct election of the Senate.
12. Opposition to banking reforms.
13. Opposition to the concept of an Environmental Protection Agency.
14. Opposition to the 8 hour workday.
15. Opposition to the establishment of federal health and safety standards.
16. Opposition to the establishment of a Home Security department over a year prior to 9/11.
17. Opposition to equal funding of schools to provide a shot at equal education.
18. Opposition to ghetto-area renewal to help get the poverty out of crime
The answers are, for the most part, liberalism.
The disinformation campaign of liberals has created the false stereotypes.
For example, the Republicans (Lincoln) freed the slaves despite deep rooted opposition of Liberals. The CRA64 was passed only because Republicans came to LBJ's rescue as many Democrats fought the idea of Civil Rights.
Women's sufferage was pushed through by Republicans. Had only the Democrats been involved, women would still be asking for the right to vote.
The direct election of the Senate was a repudiation of the sovereignty of the states as the original USA was really a confederation of autonomous state governments and the Senate was intended (as in SPQR) to be a body representing the leaders of each autonomous state, not a separate legislative body of the people as intended by the House of Representatives. The Republicans supported it as a modernization of the initial intent of the framers.
And so on....
Interesting how the Left is so capable of revisionist history...then actually believing their own bovine defecation...and perpetuating the myths.
