To make it very clear: the EU is - and has always been - against this war. Why? Because this war is immoral, unjustified and illegal. ALL "official" reasons for this war have turned out to be lies: no WMD in Iraq, no links to Al Qaeda. /quote] Is that so? Then why did Chirac find it necessary to threaten to punish the Eastern European members, plus Spain and Italy, for supporting the US. If the EU is totally against the Iraq intervention, why did Polish troops participate in the invasion? (As they did during the Normandy landings?) Quite clearly 'the' EU isn't against the US, rather some members of it (France and Germany, primarily) are. When you look at the total debt owed by Iraq to the Rest of the world about 80% of their 100 billion debt is owed to russia, about 12% to france, and about 5% to germany. Interesting coincidence, nicht war?

European Union members (as of 2003):
Opposed to Iraq Incursion: -Belgium, -Germany, -France
Supporting the Iraq Incursion: -Italy, -Luxembourg -Netherlands. -Denmark, -Ireland -United Kingdom -Greece -Spain -Portugal -Austria, -Finland -Sweden
Now. Please explain this "go it alone" bit again. I'm not sure I quite get it.
BTW 10 new members are joining in 2004.

That list just reflects the views and actions of the politicians in those countries and not the views of their populations. I find most people are against the way the conflict was started by about 10:1! Violence should always be the measure of absolute last resort, this felt more like gung ho aggression based on false pretences to very many people. the worrying thought is that if the WMD intelligence was so wide of the mark... what would have happened if Saddam actually had nukes?

Maybe it's just the company you keep. No one claimed he had nukes. We have not found Saddam at this point. Does that mean he never existed?

Maybe it's just the company you keep. Yep It's called the majority. Looks like the US is claiming Iran has though despite the IAEA report that they don't. I wonder how many will be found after GW invades Iran?

AHHHH! Now I get it.
Peanut knows better than the elected governments of the EU countries what the people want! And those politicians are, en masse ignoring their own people.
Gimme a F*&^ing break. You're clueless.
