psychodoc asks:
Do you recall what happened on 9/11/01?
Would your solution be the Neville Chamberlain approach, appeasement?
Remember. The USA was never attacked by any country other than Japan in WWII. Would you cponsider our entry into the European theater in 1942 to have been unprovoked and preemptory? Was it US imperialism?

Was it US imperialism? Very bad analogy, Walter. Germany and Italy declared war on the US soon after Dec. 7, before the US joined the war in the European theater. Plus both Germany and Italy were engaged in active wars of aggression at the time.

So when was the US attacked by Iraq..... hmmmm must have missed that. In any case joining a conflict is a different matter to starting one. Most Europeans are tired of hearing Americans bleat on about how it was them that won WW2 on their own. They were dragged into it well after the start. 1939 in case you forgot.

First of all, using the mentality of a majority of these post s we need to arrest and/or kill everyone on the planet who MAY at some time do something to us. According to what some of you have said, we don't need proof of anything. We just go in and kill and destroy and make up whatever story we want and that's okay because we stopped a threat that may or may not have panned out. If we justify that and continue with it then: What makes us any different than the terrorists? What makes us any different than the old communist regimes we hated so much? What do the words on the constitution really mean? The rest of the world laughs at us and dispises our hypocrisy. Neither the Dems or the Reps are 100% right on any issue what so ever. We are all acting like spoiled high school kids and need to get ourselves together before we destroy ourselves, but I guess none of that matters as long as one side wins over the other. land of the free? Yeah right.

OK, folks. Time Out.
One useful technique in participating on a message board is to read a post and understand a position before posting a response.
A person who calls himself psychodoc misread my post and has it totally backward. He actually repeated my point in attacking my position.
This thread started with a fundamental question but many, such as psychodoc have missed both the question and the point.
