Where in the world did you come up with that one? The CRA of 1964 was passed ovrwhelmingly because Republicans supported it over strong and violent objections by Democrats.

I remember the 60's. I seem to remember those that were white and in favor of civil rights being called liberal-commie-pinko N-lovers.
I don't remember George Wallace being a strong supporter of Black Voting Rights.
I remember Republican Govs. turning police dogs loose on civil rights demonstrators in the South.

By his order, police used violent attacks with dogs, against peacefull civil rights demonstrators. Is this showing support for civil rights ?
You make it sound like Congress voted and things just peacefully changed over night. This wasn't the case at all.The southern states especially had many violent run ins between the power stucture and innocent people who wanted to vote and ride a bus.

Which Republican Gov.s or Reps were down with the people?
JFK spoke for rights and equality. RFK. MLK.Were they murdered by champions of freedom and equality ?
Who were the Republican champions of civil rights ?

I own a business and make just as much money as anyone on this sight. I have big houses and a bunch of toys. However, when is enough, enough? why are people so greedy? Its ruining this country. As far as conservatives spouting off about working your way up to make something of yourself...what about Enron? what about these large cooperations (with the Bush admin in their pocket) that are allowed to take the earnings of people who HAVE worked their whole life to make something of themslves? Is that a handout? Should that be standard practice for Corporate America? If so, i pity all of you and most of all, this great country. WAKE UP! I'm all about people supporting themselves. I DON'T believe in Handouts. However, some of us are not Born rich. Some us need help going to college(or as you would say handouts) to work our way up from nothing. THAT IS WHAT THIS COUNTRY WAS FOUNDED ON! The Greed and shortsightedness of this administration is ruining this country. Thank God there are elections every 4 years so we can get this Crook out of office. It will be a Glorious Day in November when gw is kicked out of office. Maybe then we can get back on track as a Nation of self-helpers and once again be a leader that the world respects and looks up to. Maybe then there will be a chance for our Grandchildren to enjoy an unpolluted environment, get a good education and live in a country where the rest of the world DOES NOT want to kill us.
