I agree completely that one can honestly say something according to his world view without knowlingly lying.
Being a masochist, I listen to people like Limbaugh and Laura Ingraham occasionally, and according to them, all fault for everything lies on the left; they never question any philosophy or any position taken by the right -- unless that position isn't far enough right to them.
It is ridiculous to assume that one half the population almost always gets it right and the other half is almost always wrong. That doesn't fall under one's world view; that's an agenda if there ever was one.

Once again, that is not the news media. They are entertainers, like Michael Moore, Al Frankin, Jeannene Garaflo, Alec Baldwin and any number of other entertainers who blame everything on the right.

And those lefties are just as wrong to blame everything on the right.
I like your posts. They're quick and smart.
What do you think can be done to get left and right to put down their guns and talk to each other like adults? If there's one time we need to be united, it's now.
It sure isn't going to happen as long as each side says "You're going to just have to admit your views are wrong and come over to our way of thinking."

Thank you. You're one of the better liberals on this site. I like debate and I don't mind the occasional mild jab, I just don't like the games. You seem to be here for honest debate. There have been many here as of late who are just here to sling rocks.
I'm not so sure that there hasn't always been such very strong feelings among the parties. It manifests itself with more hostility because of the overall coarsening of our culture.

I wish more people like you would stand up, along with me, and really raise heck about how coarse this culture is indeed becoming. I do to the mall and hear 15 year old kids yell profanity to friends 50 feet away. As like as not there's a nice old lady right next to them, and it doesn't stop them. I don't think it's that they do it on purpose, but that no one has taught them to be civil. It frightens me to see it happen. When I was growing up, kids used the words, but never around anyone but themselves. Not the best situation then either, but a lot better than today's. I think I've said this, but I hear it said a lot that there hasn't been such rancor between people of differing views in this country since the Civil War. That's no good. Why can't we grow up? Is that it's too easy to just yip at each other, or is it just not possible? Thanks for your kind words also

Ian, hey bud.
I'll tell you guys what's got me fired up. I've done keyboards for 8 productions of Godspell in the past nearly 30 years and I'm about to do it again, this time for our local high school, which does top-shelf productions.
And...
We're going to take it to Scotland in August, part of an International Theater thingy. We have to raise $200,000 to do it, which in an area of only 100,000 people total is going to be daunting. I hope we can pull it off.
A blessed Thanksgiving to you and MO.

I've just read the entire thread for the first time and I must say it was a refreshing read. Both sides had there say and both sides said it intelligently. I gotta call this one a draw. Welcome Mike: and I look forward to further posts from you.
