First let me say I only caught the headlines not the details. I hear President Obama plans to protect the internet from attacks.
Two thoughts come to mind.
1. More government slush funds. Remember we already have a "Department of Homeland Security"
2. I watched and interview with Obama in which he said "We have to do a better job of information management." The context was regarding a scandal, but I don't remember which. To me, that translates "We have to control what the public knows." The internet is the last place we have for freedom of political speech.

A substantial portion of our economy depend on the net. A substantial portion of police, fire, safety, and military functions depend on the net. Can you think of any other reason the federal government might have an interest – your interest - in protecting it?
Why would you just jump on this (you said you saw only the headlines) as if something sinister was always in the works. Like Hillary said – if Obama walked on water, you would say he couldn’t swim.
Barrack Obama is an accomplished, professional, highly intelligent, decent, articulate individual, a best-selling author with a first class marriage and wonderful children. He worked his way up through the system, in the system, and touched every base along the way just as any of you people would have him do. He doesn’t even have a public record long enough for you call things like this into question.
And, by the way, which of those characteristics above apply to W?
